"Unfathomable Riches"

Riches without pain. Is it possible?

“At the age of 22, I was the assistant vice president of a casino hotel. I was considered wealthy and successful, often enjoying the best foods and the most expensive wines and liquors. My business friends would say, “Stay focused on what really makes the world turn—⁠money.”

He added, “but the more money I made, the more anxiety and sleepless nights I had.”

Do you want to get rich? Like, who wouldn’t? But it seems like the one who loves material riches is never satisfied. He craves more. This craving can become so self-consuming that it eats away admirable qualities. Now, what are the most valuable riches one can have – riches that can bring abundant blessing and real contentment?

The Good News – of what?

How will you define “undeserved kindness”? There are wide references for this topic. A friend from Zimbabwe shared this short but wonderful description: “It is when the Most High gives attention to you.”

Once you’ve learned His love and ways of dealing with mankind and towards you, don’t you feel a compelling force to share it with others too?

One of my cherished discoveries is the Good News of God’s Kingdom. In his letter to the Ephesians, an affectionate selfless man once said: “This undeserved kindness was given so that I should declare to the nations the good news about the unfathomable riches of Christ.”

That “good news” is soon, Jehovah's Kingdom (the Bible teaches that God has a personal name) will put an end to all bad things and bring lasting peace to all meek people on Earth.

True riches! Isn’t it? And imagine being one of those who declared this good news! What an immeasurable degree of joy! :)

Intimate Relationship – with whom?

Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the handwriting on the wall, the prophecy of the 70 weeks, the year 1914, the beasts representing world powers, and the rivalry between the king of the north and the king of the south. These are some of the significant subjects explained by the faithful prophet, named Daniel.

Whenever I’m asked who’s my favorite Bible Character, I always answer Daniel. :) Why? He deeply inspires and influences me. His faith galvanizes my soul.

Suppose you have not just a friend, but a super close best friend, isn’t it natural that you will confide your secrets and unpublished stories exclusively to him? That’s how I’ve always thought of Jehovah’s level of friendship with Daniel.

The “Revealer of Secrets” told many reserved matters initially to Daniel alone. That was how close and intimate their relationship was! And I told myself: “Oh, I want that too! I want that degree of friendship with my Great Potter too.”

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, we held Regional Convention every year. We are excited and thrilled for this year’s featured Bible drama entitled, “Daniel: A Lifetime of Faith.” You are invited too! :)

It's my genuine desire to have an approved relationship with my Rock. I am blessed too with a very beautiful gem – my family. Yes! I am so wealthy. My family loves me. :( They are the solid core that nurtures the good in me. I have this faith that we will soon serve the only true and living God unitedly together. :)

My family and loving friends are Jehovah’s powerful evidence of giving attention to me. Undeserved. Totally undeserved.

The Unfathomable Gift

Unfathomable: (adj) being to be without limits; incapable of being measured.

Incomprehensible. Boundless. Undescribable. Unending. Incalculable. Infinite.

What is that ‘unfathomable gift’? The ransom.

As a student of the Bible, I’ve learned that the ransom sacrifice of Jesus is the only way for the salvation of mankind. Hence, no word can appropriately describe this extremely wonderful gift and the blessings coming from it.

Because of the ransom, we can have our sins to be forgiven, we can have a good conscience, and we have the hope of living forever! Think of how delightful it will be to experience life as it originally purposed to be – free of sin and death. Uttermost freedom!

You might wonder, ‘are these all possible’? Without doubt!

All of the ‘perfect presents’ are from above. But of Jehovah’s many ‘good gifts,’ the ransom provided by Jesus, the Chief Vindicator of God’s name, is the greatest. And this is the ultimate proof of Jehovah’s love to me. :( :)

The deceptive power of riches; it never really finds satisfaction for which it hungers so much. The past Business executive mentioned at the outset came to realize what true riches are. After making changes, he said: “I found true riches!”

A Practical Book shares this proverbial wisdom:

It is the blessing of Jehovah that makes one rich, And He adds no pain with it.

May it be our goal to set our hearts on worthwhile treasures, from these riches come true peace and happiness.

The good news of the Kingdom, having an approved relationship with God, and the gift of ransom. These are certainly riches incapable of being measured. What is it then called? Unfathomable riches.
